Antonin Kennel

Trained as an engineer and self-taught photographer, Antonin develops a practice at the crossroads of technical precision and sensory exploration.

A formative experience in a traditional paper workshop in Kathmandu sparked both his interest in photography and his fascination with materiality.

Later encounters in China with artists working with ancestral Xuan paper deepened his engagement with the photographic medium as a physical and expressive surface.

Working with self-made supports, he approaches photography as a space of interpretation rather than mere capture, where image and material are inseparable.

Through layered compositions, his work evokes imagined inner landscapes.

His subjects inhabit dislocated environments, suspended between presence and observation, revealing fragile, ephemeral states of being.
